Frequently asked

How do I move and attack? +
Tap the LEFT half of the screen to slide one lane left, the RIGHT half to slide one lane right. Tap the glowing slash button to attack drones in your lane. Holding does nothing — every input is a single tap.
What is the heat meter and why did my blade lock up? +
The katana builds heat from two sources: camping (staying in one lane too long) and rapid-fire slashing. When heat hits maximum, the blade overheats and slashes lock until you change lanes. The HUD heat bar warns you before it caps — keep moving and pace your attacks.
How many hits does it take to die? +
Three hits and the run ends. After each hit you get a brief invulnerability window so you can read the next wave and reposition. The HUD shows your remaining HP as hearts.
What are the biomes and how do they change? +
Every 75 seconds the world shifts to the next biome. The rotation is Neo-Kyoto → Rain District → Neon Forest → Crimson Void, then it loops. Each biome changes only the visuals and mood — controls and drone behavior stay the same, but the world speeds up as your score climbs.
How does the combo multiplier work? +
Chained kills without getting hit or missing build a streak, which multiplies the score and coins awarded per drone. Take a hit, miss a beat, or let drones slip past, and the stack resets. Clean runs score exponentially better than careful ones.
Why do I need to sign in to play? +
Sign-in is required to submit scores to the global leaderboard. You can use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Your username is visible on the leaderboard and can be edited from the main menu. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what's stored.
How do I change my username? +
On the main menu, tap your profile name at the top. Type a new one (letters, numbers, basic punctuation, up to 24 characters) and confirm. Your best score and leaderboard history stay attached — only the display name changes.
Where does my high score go if I reinstall? +
Signed-in players: your best score lives on our servers and comes back the moment you sign in again, on any device. Offline players: the best score is stored in a local SQLite database and will be lost if you delete the app without signing in first.
Are there ads or in-app purchases? +
No. Betablight is free, contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no third-party trackers. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How do I delete my account? +
Email support@dilinx.com from an address connected to your Apple or Google sign-in. We'll confirm and remove your profile and all linked scores within 30 days. To block future sign-ins, also revoke access on the Apple or Google side.
The app crashed / I found a bug. What do you need? +
Email support@dilinx.com with:
• a short description of what you were doing
• your device model and OS version
• a screenshot or screen recording if possible
• your Betablight username (so we can look up the run on our side)
We read every message and reply to most within a few days.
Is Betablight on Android? +
Not yet on the Play Store. The engine is cross-platform (Expo / React Native), so an Android release is planned after the iOS launch stabilizes. Follow dilinx.com for updates.

Pro tips

Don't camp

Even if a lane looks clear, staying too long builds heat. Tap lanes every few beats just to keep the blade cool.

Pace the slashes

Mash the button and you'll overheat mid-wave. Let drones close a little and cut on rhythm — the combo stack likes timing more than speed.

Read the biome switch

Right before a biome changes the sky, the world speed steps up. Clear your lane a second early so you're not cutting through a shift.
